Seven Clans of the Nasu
The Seven Clans of the Nasu were an allied group of military families led by the Nasu clan of Shimotsuke Province.
In addition to the Nasu as the master’s house, the other clans comprising this group were the Ashino, the Iono, the Senbon, the Fukuhara, and senior retainers, namely the Ōzeki and the Ōtawara.
These clans were primarily active from the Muromachi to Sengoku periods and were notable for their fiercely independent spirit, frequently acting in defiance of the Nasu clan.
In the Edo period, these clans served the bakufu and were known as the Nasushū, or Nasu group.
