Araki Moritsugu served as a bushō during the Azuchi-Momoyama period.  He was a retainer of the Nihonmatsu clan based in the Adachi District of Mutsu Province.

Moritsugu was born as the son of Araki Naotsugu.  His grandfather, Araki Murahisa, originated from the Nihonmatsu and later inherited the Araki clan who were members of the Nihonmatsu.  Moritsugu was a cousin of Nihonmatsu Yoshikuni.

During an attack by the forces of Date Masamune, Moritsugu valiantly commanded the defense of Nihonmatsu Castle.
