Akizuki Harutane served as a bushō and member of the Akizuki clan.

Harutane was born in 1539 as the eldest son of Akizuki Fumitane, the fifteenth head of the Akizuki clan.  In 1557, Fumitane colluded with Mōri Motonari and abandoned support for Ōtomo Yoshishige (Sōrin).  Yoshishige responded to the betrayal by dispatching an army of 20,000 men under the command of Tachibana Dōsetsu, Usuki Akisumi, and Shiga Chikanori.  Fumitane fled from Akizuki Castle to Harutane’s base at Koshosan Castle.  Fumitane and Harutane then attempted to fight against the Ōtomo, but were outnumbered and took their own lives.
