Unno Yukiyoshi served as a bushō during the Sengoku period.  He was a kokujin, or provincial landowner, in the Chiisagata District of Shinano Province.  He had the common name of Kotarō.

The Unno clan, along with the Nezu and Mochizuki clans, was one of the Three Families of the Shigeno.  Yukiyoshi was born as the eldest son of Unno Munetsuna.

On 5/13 of Tenbun 10 (1541), an allied army comprised of Takeda Nobutora of Kai Province, Murakami Yoshikiyo of the Chiisagata District in Shinano, and Suwa Yorishige of the Suwa District of Shinano invaded the territory of the Shigeno.  On 5/23, at the Battle of Unnotaira, the Unno fled in defeat.  Yukiyoshi was killed by Murakami forces in a battle at the Kan River.  His father, Munetsuna, went into exile in Kōzuke Province with the assistance of Uesugi Norimasa, the deputy shōgun of the Kantō.

In 1561, the Yukiyoshi’s daughter wed the second son of Takeda Harunobu (Shingen) who adopted the name of Unno Nobuchika.
