Sano Yasutsuna served as a bushō during the Sengoku period.

Yasutsuna is surmised to have been the lineal heir of Sano Hidetsuna, the twelfth head of the Sano clan of Shimotsuke Province.  In genealogical records, his origins and age differ by record so the facts are uncertain.

Yasutsuna served as the thirteenth head of the Sano clan, a powerful kokujin, or provincial landowner, in Shimotsuke.  He served the Koga kubō but owing to the decline of the family of the Koga kubō, he established the clan as an independent power in Shimotsuke.

In 1509, Yasutsuna welcomed to Sano a renga master named Sōchō who was traveling in the Kantō and hosted a renga event.
