Sakuma Moritsugu served as a bushō during the Sengoku period.  He was a retainer of the Oda clan.  Sakuma Nobumori was his cousin.

Moritsugu was born as the son of Sakuma Morishige (Hisaroku)Sakuma Morishige (Daigaku) was another family member with the same name as Moritsugu’s father.

Initially, Moritsugu was under the command of Oda Nobuyuki.  Later, he served Nobuyuki’s older brother, Nobunaga.  Moritsugu served as the lord of Inuyama Castle.  In 1557, Moritsugu, together with Nobumori, participated in an assault on Nazuka Castle.  There are records that he served in the Siege of Kannonji Castle and the Siege of Shōryūji Castle in 1568, but according to genealogical records of the Sakuma family, he died an assault on Mitsukuri Castle in the eleventh month of 1568.
