Oda Tōsada served as a bushō during the late Muromachi and Sengoku periods.  Tōsada was the deputy military governor of the four lower districts of Owari and held the title of Governor of Ōmi and Governor of Tanba.  He was the lord of Hioki Castle in Owari.

Tōsada was born as the eldest son of Oda Toshisada of the Yamato-no-kami branch of the Oda based in Kiyosu Castle, the deputy military governors of the Kaitō, Nakashima, and Aichi districts (later the four lower districts) of Owari Province.  Tōsada is surmised to have received one of the characters in his name from his lord in Owari, Shiba Yoshitō.

In 1494, a succession struggle arose within the Toki clan, the military governors of neighboring Mino Province, triggering the Battle of Funada.  Toki Shigeyori, the military governor of Mino, favored his fourth son, Toki Motoyori, over his eldest son, Toki Masafusa, to be his successor.  In addition to Shigeyori, Motoyori received the backing of Ishimaru Toshimitsu.  After Tōsada received Toshimitsu’s daughter as his formal wife, he allied with Toshimitsu on the side of Motoyori.  The opponents of Motoyori were led by Saitō Myōjun.  At this time, the Saitō were the deputy military governors of Mino serving the Toki.  However, owing to the capabilities of Saitō Myōchin, the powerful father of Myōjun, the Saitō usurped the Toki as the real power-brokers in the province.  Myōjun and his supporters backed Toki Masafusa as the successor to Shigeyori.

Meanwhile, the Oda family in Owari who served as deputy military governors under the Shiba clan was split into two rival branches.  While Tōsada was associated with the Yamato-no-kami branch, he fought against Oda Tōhiro, the head of the Ise-no-kami branch of the Oda based in Iwakura Castle, the deputy military governors of the four upper districts of Owari.  Tōhiro aligned with Saitō Myōjun who backed Toki Masafusa as Shigeyori’s successor.  On 7/5 of 1495, Tōsada’s father, Oda Toshisada, died while on deployment.  Tōsada continued serving on the deployment, and after returning to Owari, succeeded Toshisada as head of the family.  Nevertheless, in the ninth month of 1495, he died in battle in Mino.  According to one theory, his next brother, Oda Tōmura, succeeded him.
