Niiro Tadataka served as a bushō during the Sengoku and Azuchi-Momoyama periods.  He was a retainer of the Shimazu clan.

In 1554, Tadataka was born as the eldest son of Niiro Tadamoto.

In 1578, at the Battle of Mimikawa, Tadataka served with his father in numerous battles.  In 1582, in an operation to take control of Higo Province, he joined Tadamoto in an offensive in Kumamoto.  In 1583, during battle against the Ryūzōji clan of Hizen Province, Tadataka was killed in action during an assault against Fukae Castle.  He was thirty years old.

Shimazu Yoshihisa, the sixteenth head of the Shimazu clan, mourned the death of Tadataka and designated the Sentoku Temple as the family temple of the Niiro family.
