Fukuma Motomichi served as a bushō during the Azuchi-Momoyyama and early Edo periods.  Motomichi was a chief retainer of the Kudamatsu domain.  His common names were Hikosaburō, Hikoemon-no-jō.  He held the title of Governor of Awaji.

In 1572, Motomichi was born as the eldest son of Fukuma Motoaki, a retainer of the Mōri clan.

On 12/13 of Tenshō 13 (1586), he attended his coming-of-age ceremony and received one of the characters in his name from Mōri Terumoto, adopting the name of Motomichi.

In 1586, during the Kyūshū Pacification, his father, Motoaki, was killed in action so Motomichi inherited the family.  On 12/13 of Tenshō 19 (1592), he was given the name of Hikoemon-no-jō by Mōri Terumoto.

In 1603, when Awaya Motosuke was assigned to protect and mentor Terumoto’s second son, Mōri Naritaka, Motomichi, along with Nagoya Mototada and Enomoto Motonobu were assigned to help raise him.  At this time, he was granted a fief of 500 koku in the Chōshū domain (also known as the Hagi domain), but he assigned the fief to his eldest son, Fukuma Naritoki, and became a retainer of Naritaka with the status of being retired.  In 1604, in post-retirement, he began service to Naritaka and, in 1617, after Naritaka received a fief of 30,000 koku in the Tsuno District of Suō Province, Motomichi became his chief retainer.

He died on 12/26 of Kanei 16 (1640) at the age of sixty-eight.
