Kuwayama Kazushige served as a bushi during the Azuchi-Momoyama period.  He had the common name of Kurōgorō.

Kazushige was born as the eldest son of Kuwayama Shigeharu, a senior retainer of Toyotomi Hidenaga.  Kazushige’s eldest son was Kuwayama Kazuharu and his second son was Kuwayama Kazunao.

Kazushige was intended to inherit the family from Shigeharu but, in 1582, he died before his father at Takeda Castle at the age of twenty-six so his eldest son, Kazuharu, succeeded to the headship of the clan.
